The newest deck to my collection arrived in the mail today; the Tarot de Marseille by Alejandro Jodorowsky and Philippe Camoin and it’s companion book. The Tarot de Marseille is one of the oldest tarot patterns that exist, with many modern tarot decks deriving from it. A major noticeable difference between this deck and a lot of popular tarot decks is this deck’s pip cards (Ace through 10 of the Minor Arcana) do not contain individual unique iconography like the Rider-Waite deck for example, but rather uses a set pattern based on the suit, similar to how the pip cards in a normal 52-card playing deck are arranged. Below is an example compared to the Rider-Waite deck.
